Accept Yourself
This is easier said than done, but finding yourself begins with accepting yourself. This can begin with making peace with who you are. It can be hard to begin this journey into inner healing and wholeness, but it’s essential to finding who you are and beginning your love affair with yourself. A great place to start is by standing in front of the mirror every morning and telling yourself that you’re worthy of love, acceptance, and trust. It may be difficult to start this practice, but the more that you do it, the more you’ll begin to believe it.
Get Rid of the Idea of Perfect
The concept of “perfect” does not exist. No one is perfect and being flawless is completely boring. Choose to accept your flaws and love yourself for who you are, who you’ve been, and who you’re becoming. Liking the good about yourself is easy, but the difficult and unsavory aspects of yourself may take more time. It’s completely alright for this to be a process. Growing and changing takes time.
Be Selfish
“Me” time is essential to accepting to yourself. Learn to say no to social situations, disconnect from social media accounts, and cut yourself off of toxic relationships to protect your time with yourself carefully. Between work, family, and other social expectations, it can be difficult to carve time out for yourself, but try your best to find a few minutes each day to just be by yourself. Breathe, meditate, attend a yoga class, or enjoy a quiet walk outdoors. This is essential to getting to know who you are and what you need.
Connect to Your Core
Write down a few core beliefs that you hold in your soul about yourself. Some of these can include:
- I am worth it
- I am special
- I can do it
- I am strong
- I am smart
- I am beautiful
Once you have your core beliefs, keep them close by so you can see them. Write them on a note, on your mirror, or set a reminder on your phone or computer. A few times a day, take a few moments to breathe, connect with your heart, and repeat your core beliefs to yourself. The more that you choose to connect with your core, the more that you’ll discover what you’re made of and who you were meant to be.
Choosing to accept who you are will begin your journey of discovering who you are. If you’re ready to embark on this experience with a counselor who will journey with you to heal, find meaning, and embrace life, contact Wisdom From Within in South Surrey today!
